The AI Action Summit in Paris, according to BBC Technology Editor Zoe Kleinman, revealed a clear struggle between nations vying for dominance in the AI race, while also grappling with the need for collaboration. One particularly striking prediction came from Marc Warner of Faculty AI, who suggested that AI’s automation of cognitive tasks could fundamentally alter the job market, potentially rendering traditional employment models obsolete.

“The Industrial Revolution automated physical jobs, AI is going to automate cognitive jobs” said Warner.

He said his two-year-old would not have a job in the way we currently recognise jobs.

Jobs of the future

This raises crucial questions about the future of work and the skills in most demand. Adding another layer of complexity, insights into China’s approach, described as “move fast and break things,” further underscore the global competition and differing perspectives on AI development and safety.

This backdrop makes understanding emerging AI-related job roles even more critical. A recent Hostinger study sheds light on some of the most promising emerging careers in the US, revealing not just high demand but also competitive salaries and significant public interest. This information is crucial for even UK job seekers and contractors who might be unaware of these opportunities thanks to AI and other technological advancements. However, not all in-demand jobs are about artificial intelligence.
