Universal Credit Claimants could see their payments made slightly earlier this December to take into account of the bank holidays. We have provided the estimated dates below based on the government’s website.
Bank holiday payment dates
If it’s a bank holiday anywhere in the UK your payment may be early.
Due Date | Payment Date |
25 December 2020 | 24 December |
28 December | 24 December |
29 December | 24 December – Northern Ireland Only |
1 January 2021 | 31 December 2020 |
For those residing in Scotland and expecting a payment on 4 January 2021, then your anticipated payment date is likely to be 31 December 2020.
If your payment is late, check the payment date on your award notice and contact your bank before calling HMRC.
New claims
It can take up to 5 weeks to process a new claim for Univeraal Credit. You’ll be sent an award notice by post giving you the date of your first payment.
You choose if you want to get paid weekly or every 4 weeks on your claim form. If you do not have a claim form, contact HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
