In a recent video, digital marketing experts Neil Patel and Eric Siu, discuss the challenges of standing out with content in a world where everyone is creating it and increasingly through AI-based language model apps, like Chat GPT and Bard. We broke down their tips from the video so you could take away some of their marketing wisdom and apply it right away

Share your personal experiences and stories

Sharing your own personal experiences, that’s going to be hard for AI to replicate. That’s what makes things unique. These experiences could be backed up with guidance and tips whether that’s in a video, infographic or article form.

Why is this the case? According to Eric Siu, people are naturally drawn to stories, and they like to do business with people they can relate to. So if you can share your own personal experiences and stories in your content, it will be more likely to resonate with your audience.

When people make reaction videos on YouTube, for example, they’re sharing their experiences to a degree and so usually people just need a little nudge they need to think about things a little differently by you providing that that’s actually really valuable.

Focus on topics that haven’t been “beaten to death”

Don’t just write about the same topics everyone else is writing about. Instead, try to find unique angles and perspectives, or focus on new and emerging topics.

The Freelance Informer suggests freelancers looking to generate unique content should reach out to their network and ask: what’s bothering you right now about X? You may find people have a similar beef about something or something unexpected that could prove inspirational or informative for your target audience.

Integrate influencers into your content

Partnering with influencers is a great way to get your content in front of a new audience and build credibility. If you can get an influencer to share your content, it will be more likely to be seen and trusted by others.

How can you end up integrating influencers? The marketing experts use US news presenter Tucker Carlson’s experience of getting fired from Fox to now creating his own show on Twitter through a “captivating audience”. Their advice is if you can partner with someone, and bring that personality into your business, that will also make your content stand out.

Here are some additional tips from Neil Patel’s video:

  • Use data to support your claims, but also tell stories.
  • Be specific and provide details.
  • Think about how you can help your audience think about things differently.
